What Makes IB a Great Program for You?
The IB promotes interdisciplinary, bilingual, global minded education that equips learners with the knowledge, values and skills to make the world a better place!
Our IB courses provide a vision and model of education that aims to create learners who are “balanced,” “principled,” and “caring,” who understand responsible citizenship, and want to make the world a better place. AP classes tend to me more content and skills focused, while IB includes more of a holistic approach to learning that emphasizes global mindedness, inquiry, and making the world a better place through collaboration and action. This is demonstrated in IB courses that are designed to help students develop as critical and compassionate thinkers, lifelong learners, and active collaborative problem solvers in local and global contexts. |

Candidates can earn college credit!
IB works closely with universities around the world to gain recognition for IB Programs. With a score of 4 or better on an IB Exam, a student may receive college credit. Each college or university determines which IB exams they give credit for and the score necessary to receive credit. Some IB courses may also be dual credit courses. |
CAS activities are fun and based on student interest!
This is a core requirement of the IB Diploma program, and it's what sets IB apart from the rest. CAS enables students to learning through their experience with a direct application of knowledge and skills, while enhancing their personal and interpersonal growth. As students pursue their own interests and learning activities, it provides opportunities for self-determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work. At the same time, CAS is an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the DP. (IBO) |
Question everything! Ask yourself, HOW do you know?
Theory of knowledge (TOK) is another core requirement of the IB Diploma Program. This class allows students to develop as critical consumers of knowledge and develop interdisciplinary connections, as they reflect on the nature of knowledge, and on how we know, what we claim to know. TOK is composed almost entirely of questions and challenges students to dive deep into different ways of knowing, and into different kinds of knowledge. Through classroom discussions, writing, and exhibitions students gain greater awareness of their personal and ideological assumptions, as well as developing an appreciation of the diversity and richness of multicultural perspectives. WARNING! This class may change the way you view the world! (IBO) |

IB promotes global mindedness, a recognition of our common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, to help to create a better and more peaceful world!
The IB not only teaches content, skills, independence, accountability, and organizational skills, but also to be a good person with the qualities and attributes to make the world a better place! Through courses, activities, experiences, interdisciplinary and multicultural connections, an IB education encourages students to become “caring, balanced, reflective, inquirers, principled, thinkers, open minded, knowledgeable, risk takers, and communicators.” This is the IB Learner Profile. |
